The Central Academy Cougars will head out on the road to square off against the Sun Valley Spartans at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Central Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.9 runs per game this season.
While Central Academy's victory against Anson wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Central Academy sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-9 win over Anson on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Cougars have posted since April 30, 2024.
Addison Crawford was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out 17 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and six unearned) runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Kieryn Peters and Siena Crawford did most of the damage at the plate: Peters scored three runs and stole three bases while going 4-for-4, while Siena went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those two doubles gave Crawford a new career-high. Katelyn Easterly was another key player, scoring three runs while going 1-for-4.
Meanwhile, Sun Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against Marvin Ridge, falling 14-4.
Gracyn Hawk (2026) was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two runs. Moriah Garcia (2026) also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Sun Valley's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Central Academy, their record is now 7-5.
Sun Valley's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Central Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .418. It's a different story for Sun Valley, though, as they've only averaged .197. Will they be able to contain Central Academy's hitters?
Central Academy took their win against Sun Valley in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 12-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for Central Academy since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
