It was a good run, but the Slidell Tigers unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell 58-48 to St. Augustine. While losing is never fun, Slidell can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 113th, while St. Augustine is ranked 22nd).
Slidell's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mike Parlow, who scored 17 points along with 5 rebounds. The contest was Parlow's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jaden Hookfin, who scored 14 points along with 8 rebounds.
Slidell's loss dropped their record down to 7-7. As for St. Augustine, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Slidell will take on Northshore at 7:10 p.m. on Monday. As for St. Augustine, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Livingston Collegiate Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Livingston Collegiate Academy comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
