Basketball Game Preview: Oakley Plainsmen vs. Decatur Community Red Devils

The Oakley Plainsmen will face off against the Decatur Community Red Devils at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Oakley took a loss when they played away from home back in December of 2024, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed two weeks ago. They came out on top against Smith Center by a score of 55-42.

Oakley found their leader in freshman Alexa Weiser, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Weiser has scored all season. Chesney Marshall was another key player, putting up 14 points and five rebounds.

Oakley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in 27 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Decatur Community). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Logan/Palco 68-20. The victory was nothing new for the Red Devils as they're now sitting on three straight.

Oakley's win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Decatur Community, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.

Oakley was able to grind out a solid win over Decatur Community in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, winning 40-31. Will Oakley repeat their success, or does Decatur Community have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
