Cedar Ridge hasn't had much luck against Western Alamance recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. Cedar Ridge will be playing at home against Western Alamance at 6:00 p.m. Cedar Ridge is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.4 runs per game this season.
Cedar Ridge is headed into the match having just suffered their closest loss since February 25th on Friday. They fell just short of Eastern Alamance by a score of 6-4. The Fighting Red Wolves have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Cedar Ridge saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Charlotte Lowry, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double. Reagan Simmons was another, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Western Alamance waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Bulldogs an 18-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won four games by 18 runs or more so far this season.
Addison Beal was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Bayleigh Burris was a standout: she scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Kyndal Wilborn, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Western Alamance was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .567. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in seven consecutive matchups.
Cedar Ridge's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Western Alamance, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Cedar Ridge hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .327. However, it's not like Western Alamance struggles in that department as they've averaged .500. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
