Byers added to the longest winning streak in 2A Region 2 this week by beating Independence, 22-14. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
Coahoma County was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fourth to second in the league.
Marquis Moore was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 17 carries, he ran for 210 yards as Byers fell to Palmer. Justin Sellars also contributed to the rushing game with 68 yards on the ground.
Moore was a beast in the backfield as Christopher Daniels' team beat the Wildcats.
Moore provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Lions topped Independence.
Byers' offense has been unstoppable this season and the Lions feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Anthony Rubin has thrown for 522 yards and 6 touchdowns this season, while Ronnie Dennis has 17 catches for 289 yards.
Potts Camp lost to Holly Springs 66-14 last week, the largest margin of any game.
