Everything went their way against the Apache Junction Prospectors on Wednesday as the Dobson Mustangs made off with a 19-3 win. The victory was some much needed relief for the Mustangs as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak dating back to last season.
Santiago Hinostroza was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in February of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in both of his plate appearances.
In other batting news, Dobson got a massive performance out of Brenston Velasquez, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs Velasquez has posted since back in March of 2024. Aaron Mutascio was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3.
Dobson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .683. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Apache Junction only posted an OBP of .500.
Looking ahead, Dobson will face off against Seton Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Apache Junction, they will take on McClintock in a tournament on Thursday.
