The Lincoln Lions are taking a road trip to challenge the Portsmouth Patriots at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Lincoln has three straight victories, Portsmouth has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Tuesday, Lincoln got the win against Woonsocket by a conclusive 15-3. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by seven runs or more this season.
London Rapko looked comfortable as she tossed four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Brielle Lambert was excellent, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Mara Kapadia also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Portsmouth fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Ponaganset on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Chieftains by a score of 6-5. That's two games in a row now that the Patriots have lost by just one run.
Barbara Rainey made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Lilly Morgado, who went 1-for-4 with one home run.
The win got Lincoln back to even at 5-5. As for Portsmouth, their loss dropped their record down to 5-8.
Monday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Lincoln has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .506. However, it's not like Portsmouth struggles in that department as they've averaged .458. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
