Harlan is 2-0 against Knoxville since October of 2021, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Harlan Cyclones will head out on the road to face off against the Knoxville Panthers at 8:00 p.m. Knoxville took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Harlan, who comes in off a win.
Last Thursday, everything went Harlan's way against Atlantic as Harlan made off with a 27-6 victory. Given Harlan's advantage in MaxPreps' Iowa football rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while Atlantic is ranked 149th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Knoxville's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They fell just short of Perry by a score of 17-14.
Harlan's win was their tenth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 5-3. They've been dominating across those contests too: they took their wins by an average of 36 points. Knoxville has been struggling this season, as they've lost six of their first eight matches, which leaves them at a 2-6 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Harlan against Knoxville in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 49-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Harlan since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
