After flying high against the San Luis Sidewinders on Thursday, the Kofa Kings came back down to earth. Kofa took a 54-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Youngker. Kofa was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Youngker apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.
Several Kings players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Devin Diaz, who scored 13 points along with seven assists and three steals. Those seven assists set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Elijah Braveheart, who scored six points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Even though they lost, Kofa were working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Xavier Hargrove continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Youngker, dropping a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that Hargrove scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaac Ginger, who scored six points.
Kofa has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-3 record this season. As for Youngker, the win got them back to even at 4-4.
Kofa will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Pueblo at 1:10 p.m. on December 28th. As for Youngker, they will head out on the road to face off against Independence at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
