This season hasn't been kind to the Oakwood Eagles, who are still winless after their 17th match. They had to suffer through a rough 76-12 loss at the hands of Harrells Christian Academy. Oakwood was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 51-2.
Harrells Christian Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Antonio McKoy, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and four steals. McKoy is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Bj Bennett, who scored 12 points along with six assists and three steals.
Oakwood dropped their record down to 0-17 with that loss, which was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 18.9 points per game. As for Harrells Christian Academy, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-10.
Oakwood will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Eagles at 5:00 p.m. Fayetteville Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight contests -- so hopefully the Eagles like a good challenge. As for Harrells Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to challenge the Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Kerr-Vance Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 617th, while the Crusaders are ranked 171st).
