The Claremont Wolfpack's's nine-game losing streak dating back to last season came to an end on Friday. They managed a 17-12 victory over Chaffey. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Claremont also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2022.
Claremont found their leader in underclassman Gatsbee Gumban, who rushed for 139 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries. Gumban was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 53 yards.
Claremont's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Leading the way was Ismail Ganley and his two sacks.
Claremont's victory bumped their record up to 1-8. As for Chaffey, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 1-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Claremont will face off against Don Lugo at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Don Lugo's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last three games. As for Chaffey, they will head out on the road to face off against West Covina at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
