After a string of three wins, the Vasquez Mustangs's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell to Valley Torah 75-69. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
When it comes to explaining why Vasquez lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kristopher Horton. Despite the final result, he scored 35 points along with eight rebounds and five blocks. The match was Horton's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Gavin Battey was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Vasquez's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-8. As for Valley Torah, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 13-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Vasquez won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Faith Baptist at 7:00 p.m. on January 9th. Faith Baptist has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 205 points over their last three contests. As for Valley Torah, they will be playing in front of their home fans against The Palmdale Aerospace Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
