Sharpstown and Sterling are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2019, but not for long. The Sharpstown Apollos will be playing at home against the Sterling Raiders at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Sharpstown has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 21.
Sharpstown suffered their biggest defeat since December 1, 2023 on Friday. They were dealt a 93-45 loss at the hands of Madison. Sharpstown has not had much luck with Madison recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Meanwhile, Sterling pushed their score all the way to 63 last Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 70-63 hit to the loss column at the hands of Madison. It was the first time this season that Sterling let down their fans at home.
Defeat or not, Sterling got some senior leadership from Christian Rogers and Kevon Bowens. Rogers scored 17 points along with six rebounds, while Bowens. scored 18 points along with two blocks. That's the first time this season that Bowens posted two or more blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshua Augustine, who scored six points along with five rebounds.
Sterling struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Madison racked up ten assists.
Sharpstown bumped their record down to 4-20 with that loss, which was their seventh straight on the road. As for Sterling, their loss ended a nine-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-7.
Sharpstown was taken down by Sterling 80-40 when the teams last played back in November of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Sterling's Henry Beteta, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
