Ellington is 8-2 against Granby Memorial since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Knights will head out to square off against the Bears at 4:15 p.m. Ellington will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.
On Saturday, Ellington made easy work of South Windsor and carried off a 14-2 win. Considering the Knights have won 12 contests by more than seven runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Ellington got a massive performance out of Madison Havener, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most runs Havener has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Havener, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Ellington kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive matchups.
Bristol Central typically has all the answers at home, but on Saturday Granby Memorial proved too difficult a challenge. They had just enough and edged out the Rams 8-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bears have posted since April 6th.
Amanda Bristol spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and four unearned) runs on 12 hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Ashley Tetreault and Brynne Simard did most of the damage at the plate: Tetreault went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI, while Simard got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and one double. Ellison Haury was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.
Ellington's record now sits at 15-2. As for Granby Memorial, their record is now 14-5.
Monday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Ellington has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .523. However, it's not like Granby Memorial struggles in that department as they've averaged .461. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Ellington skirted past Granby Memorial 7-6 in their previous meeting last Friday. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
