The Kentridge Chargers lost to the Decatur Golden Gators back in February, but the Kentridge Chargers didn't allow the Decatur Golden Gators the same satisfaction on Thursday. Kentridge took down Decatur 61-47.
Jayla Keowla was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that she pulled down eight or more rebounds. Sydney Esperanza was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with six rebounds.
Despite the loss, Decatur saw an underclassman step up: Leilah Mulivai-Tobin scored 12 points along with three steals. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Tamairah Allen, who scored two points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Kentridge's win bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Decatur, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kentridge will face off against Bothell at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Decatur, they will head out on the road to face off against Bonney Lake at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Bonney Lake knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matchups -- so hopefully Decatur likes a good challenge.
