The Research Triangle Raptors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight defeat. They took a 52-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of NCSSM: Durham. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Research Triangle in their matchups with NCSSM: Durham: they've now lost four in a row.
Research Triangle's loss came despite strong showings from Cade Wiggins and Omar WIley. Wiggins scored 16 points, while WIley scored 14 points.
Research Triangle has not been sharp recently as the team's lost nine of their last 11 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season. As for NCSSM: Durham, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-10.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Research Triangle will challenge East Wake Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Greyson Landphere and Wiggins. As for NCSSM: Durham, they will head out on the road to take on Raleigh Charter at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. NCSSM: Durham is facing Raleigh Charter at the right time seeing as Raleigh Charter is stuck on a 12-game losing streak.
