Design Tech has gone a perfect 7-0 against KIPP San Jose Collegiate recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Dragons will be playing at home against the Wolfpack at 3:30 p.m. Design Tech is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games.
While Design Tech's victory against El Camino wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Dragons won by a run and slipped past the Colts 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Dragons have posted since March 18, 2025.
Adelaide Chuang was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Kendall Hom was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Sarah Todd, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Design Tech hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last contest, KIPP San Jose Collegiate made sure to put some runs up on the board against Luis Valdez Leadership Academy on Wednesday. The Wolfpack put the hurt on the Lions with a sharp 13-3 victory. The win continues a trend for the Wolfpack in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won five in a row.
Taide Garcia was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Amaris Vallez was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.
Design Tech's victory bumped their record up to 7-3. As for KIPP San Jose Collegiate, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
Friday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Design Tech has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .582. However, it's not like KIPP San Jose Collegiate struggles in that department as they've averaged .534. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
