Softball Recap: Onalaska Now 7-2 over Last Nine Games

There's no place like home for Onalaska, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the La Crosse Central Riverhawks on Thursday as they made off with a 9-0 victory. The Hilltoppers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by eight runs or more this season.

Sydney Kraus 2028 made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple was her first of the season.

Kraus 2028 wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Lauren Pica 2027, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Those two hits gave Pica 2027 a new career-high. Jenna Gansen 2025 was another, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Onalaska has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for La Crosse Central, their loss dropped their record down to 5-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Onalaska will venture away from home to take on Baldwin-Woodville at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for La Crosse Central, they will head out to challenge Reedsburg on Saturday.
