The Mountlake Terrace Hawks will square off against the Stanwood Spartans at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing isn't great for Mountlake Terrace: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Stanwood has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road.
Mountlake Terrace took a eight-run loss the last time they faced off against Shorewood, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Hawks sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Stormrays on Monday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Hawks as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Jeremy Perreault made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
In other pitching news, Layton Rongholt looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Mountlake Terrace is 5-1 when Rongholt allows three or fewer earned runs, but 0-7 otherwise.
Back at the plate, Charlie Schofield was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one triple and one RBI. That triple marked the first that he hit this season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Stanwood). Everything went their way against Everett on Monday as they made off with a 9-1 win. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Seagulls recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Cullen Maloney looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Skyler McLain, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Corban Forslund was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.
Stanwood's win bumped their record up to 11-1. As for Mountlake Terrace, their victory bumped their record up to 5-8.
Mountlake Terrace beat Stanwood 16-12 in their previous meeting back in March of 2018. Will the Hawks repeat their success, or do the Spartans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
