After a string of five wins, the Ocean View Seahawks's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 67-47 walloping at the hands of Verbum Dei Jesuit.
Despite the loss, Ocean View still got an impressive performance from Brayden Ackerman, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. The match was Ackerman's sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cavin Flanagan, who scored 15 points.
Verbum Dei Jesuit's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Reese Whitman, who scored 24 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Whitman continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jose Hinojosa, who scored nine points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
Ocean View's loss dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Verbum Dei Jesuit, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-6.
Ocean View will take on Anaheim at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Anaheim is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for Verbum Dei Jesuit, they will head out on the road to face off against Taft at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Taft is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.
