The Providence Christian Academy Griffins fought the good fight in their overtime match against the Tome Titans on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Titans by a score of 64-62. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
When it comes to explaining why Providence Christian Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Bryce Unruh. Despite the final result, he scored 23 points along with nine assists and seven steals. That was a full 37.1% of Providence Christian Academy's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Ethan Burrows, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds.
Tome got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Spencer Cain out in front who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. Cain has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Griffith, who scored 13 points along with four steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Providence Christian Academy and nudges their season record down to 7-6. As for Tome, their win bumped their record up to 8-4.
Providence Christian Academy on the road again on Thursday and play against Perry Hall Christian at 4:45 p.m. on January 25th. Perry Hall Christian will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. Tome will take on Fellowship of Christian Athletes at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
