With a playoff game on the line, Atascadero rose to the challenge  on Friday. They came out on top against the Liberty Hawks by a score of  21-14.
 Atascadero found their leader in sophomore  Michael Trejo, who rushed for 68 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries, and also threw for 176 yards and a touchdown while completing 87.5% of his passes. Atascadero also got a significant boost from  Joseph Hyde, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 100 yards.
 Despite the loss, Liberty still got an impressive performance from   Talan Lamattina, who picked up 40 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also rushed for 79 yards on only six carries. Lamattina also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, picking up  a  sack, making ten total tackles (2.0 for loss),  and defending a pass.
 Atascadero's win was  their third straight at home, which  pushed their record up to 6-5. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 27.7 points per game. As for Liberty, they now  have a losing record at 5-6.
 Atascadero will take on Morro Bay at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. Morro Bay knows how to get  points on the board -- the  squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully Atascadero likes a good challenge. Liberty does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
