If Wheatland-Chili wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Notre Dame, they should've done a better job of containing Lucia Fiorentino. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish breezed by the Wheatland-Chili Wildcats to the tune of 63-22 on Saturday thanks in part to Fiorentino, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 boards. That's the most rebounds she has posted since back in December of 2023.
The team also got some help courtesy of Sofia Falleti, who went 5 of 12 on her way to 12 points. Falleti is also crushing it when it comes to blocks: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.
The win made it two in a row for Notre Dame and bumps their season record up to 5-2. As for Wheatland-Chili, they dropped their record down to 1-4 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Notre Dame will host Caledonia-Mumford at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Caledonia-Mumford knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Notre Dame likes a good challenge. As for Wheatland-Chili, they will welcome Alexander at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
