TEMECULA, Calif. - After three lead changes,
Murrieta Mesa (Murrieta, Calif.) took the lead for good when
Parker Erickson thew a touchdown to
Khalil Sharpe with 9:00 remaining in the third quarter and held on to beat
Temecula Valley (Temecula, Calif.) 34-17 on Saturday.
The teams went into the locker room at halftime deadlocked at 17. The Rams took the lead for good on a Erickson touchdown pass to Sharpe in the third quarter.
Erickson was the top performer for Murrieta Mesa. The senior wide receiver threw three touchdowns. He has now scored six touchdowns on the season.
Kyle Plantier made a difference for the Golden Bears. The junior quarterback threw one touchdown and ran for one touchdown. He has now scored three touchdowns on the season.
Coming into the game MM had allowed 23.9 points per game this year. The defense really stepped up, holding Temecula Valley well below its season average of 26.0 points scored per game.
The Rams got revenge for last year's 30-24 loss to TV with the victory.
The victory was a step in the right direction for Murrieta Mesa, which was coming off a 33-30 defeat at the hands of Murrieta Valley in its previous game.
Temecula Valley (1-7) goes up against Great Oak in a Southwestern game matchup next week, while Murrieta Mesa (6-2) locks horns with Vista Murrieta also in a Southwestern game.
