You can't lose the matchup if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Pinecrest's strategy against the Cavaliers on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Pinecrest blew the Cavaliers out of the water with a 54-11 final score. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 40-8.
Pinecrest relied on the efforts of Zanodiya Mcnair, who scored 11 points along with four steals, and Ashoneca King, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points King has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Nor'Miya McNeill, who scored a point along with five steals.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Lee County's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They suffered a tough 63-38 loss at the hands of Overhills. Lee County has struggled against the Jaguars recently, as their contest on Thursday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Pinecrest's win bumped their record up to 6-12. As for Lee County, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-8.
Pinecrest didn't have too much breathing room in their match against the Yellow Jackets in their previous matchup back in January, but they still walked away with a 59-53 victory. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Lee County's Kelyce Mcswain, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 21 rebounds. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Pinecrest still be able to contain Mcswain? There's only one way to find out.
