The Letcher County Central Cougars will face off against the Lawrence County Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Letcher County Central took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They were the clear victors by an 11-4 margin over Harlan. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Green Dragons recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Scarlett Stamper made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Letcher County Central let Katie Combs and Kara Holcomb run wild. Combs went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run, while Holcomb went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI Holcomb has posted since back in March. Amirah Cook was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Letcher County Central hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least three batters in six consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Lawrence County got themselves on the board against Lewis County on Saturday, but Lewis County never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over the Lions. The victory was familiar territory for the Bulldogs, who have now won three contests in a row.
Letcher County Central's win was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-10. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Lawrence County, their win bumped their record up to 17-7.
