St. Paul Lutheran moved up to 129 from 237 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in I-70. A 41-0 win over Lone Jack helped the Saints improve their standing.
St. Paul Lutheran extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Mules, 41-0. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
Sweet Springs's dynamic duo of Derrick Nelson and Jeffery Hall proved tough for Orrick to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Nelson threw for 276 yards and Hall had 117 yards receiving. Jeffrey Dierker helped Sweet Springs' passing attack out by catching six balls for 95 yards.
Derrick Dennis was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 37 carries, he ran for 221 yards as the Bearcats bested the Bearcats. Lane Barker also contributed to the rushing game with 37 yards on the ground.
Sweet Springs' Nelson and Hall have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading I-70 in both passing and receiving yards. Nelson has thrown for 488 yards this season, while Hall, a 6-foot-2 receiver, has 11 catches for 253 yards. Orrick's Dennis leads the league in rushing yards with 641.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Saints take on Crest Ridge. St. Paul Lutheran is currently in first, while the Cougars are in third.
