On Monday, the Arbor View Aggies faced the Desert Pines Jaguars in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Arbor View walked away with a 68-61 win over the Jaguars. Given Arbor View's advantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked third, while the Jaguars are ranked 25th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Pharaoh Compton continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 30 points and 13 rebounds. He hasn't dropped below two blocks for 13 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Maximus Romero, who scored 15 points along with five assists and two steals.
Arbor View is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. As for Desert Pines, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-11.
Arbor View will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Rattlers at 6:30 p.m. Hopefully Mojave focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven on Monday. As for Desert Pines, they will head out on the road to face off against the Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Las Vegas focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Monday.
