North Star is a perfect 8-0 against Rimrock since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Huskies are taking a road trip to square off against the Raiders at 10:00 a.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (North Star has seven straight wins, Rimrock has six straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
North Star's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They blew past Gem State Adventist Academy 18-0. The Huskies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by eight runs or more this season.
Luke Fox and Teague Fox made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Fox struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Teague tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. At bat, Fox went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one double, while Teague scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5.
In other batting news, Jace Irwin and Cole Young did most of the damage at the plate: Irwin went 4-for-5 with four runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Young scored four runs and stole a base while going 4-for-5. That's the most runs Young has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Colby Coit, who went 1-for-4 with four RBI and one run.
North Star kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Rimrock lost 30-10 to Garden Valley on Wednesday.
North Star's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-2. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Rimrock, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.
North Star took their victory against Rimrock in their previous matchup back in March of 2023 by a conclusive 20-0 score. Do the Huskies have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Raiders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
