The Fairview Knights had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Coronado on Saturday and snuck past 40-38. Winning is a bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 14 to 7 on the offensive boards, as Fairview did.
Fairview can attribute much of their success to Bella Chang, who scored 16 points along with 7 rebounds and 5 steals. Chang has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Olivia Soto, who scored 7 points along with 3 steals.
Despite the loss, Coronado still got an impressive performance from Dayshanay Bruner, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 15 rebounds. Bruner is absolutely dominating the block category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Astoria Spradlin was another key contributor, scoring 8 points along with 8 rebounds.
Fairview's victory bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Coronado, they have yet to win a matchup at home this season, leaving them with a 0-3 record.
Fairview will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Mountain Vista at 8:00 p.m. on December 5th.
