Berne Union's 25-1 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Madison Christian an easy 32-10 win. While losing is never fun, Berne Union can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 798th, while Madison Christian is ranked 288th).
Meanwhile, Shekinah Christian scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They strolled past Northside Christian with points to spare, taking the game 49-31.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Shekinah Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Allie Beachy, who scored 11 points. Those 11 points set a new season-high mark for her. Haylee Beachy was another key contributor, scoring four points along with three steals.
Berne Union's loss was their fifth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 0-9. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 17.6 points per game. As for Shekinah Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 5-4 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Berne Union against Shekinah Christian in their previous matchup back in February of 2020 as the squad secured a 63-2 win. Does Berne Union have another victory up their sleeve, or will Shekinah Christian turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
