The Maple Mountain Golden Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They fell to Salem Hills 55-50. Maple Mountain was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Salem Hills apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played on January 5th.
When it comes to explaining why Maple Mountain lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jaynee Tanner. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. Tanner has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last three times she's played. Shay Brown was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Madi King went supernova for Salem Hills, scoring 21 points along with five rebounds and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points King has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Hattie Parkinson, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Maple Mountain's defeat dropped their record down to 12-6. As for Salem Hills, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-6.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Spanish Fork the next time they take the court. Maple Mountain will host Spanish Fork at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday, while Salem Hills will host them at 5:15 p.m. on Friday.
