Barr-Reeve and Pike Central are an even 4-4 against one another since January of 2015, but not for long. The Barr-Reeve Vikings will head out on the road to face off against the Pike Central Chargers at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Neither of these teams found much success offensively their last time out, scoring well below their season average.
Last Tuesday, Barr-Reeve ended up a good deal behind Springs Valley and lost 41-25.
Barr-Reeve's defeat came about despite a quality game from Hannah Bledsoe, who scored 12 points along with 9 rebounds and 4 blocks. The match was Bledsoe's fourth in a row with at least ten points. josie knepp was another key contributor, scoring 8 points.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Pike Central, who are still winless after their fifth matchup. They were the victim of a rough 45-20 loss at the hands of Tell City last Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Pike Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 359th, while Tell City is ranked 170th).
Their wins bumped Barr-Reeve to 2-3 and Springs Valley to 6-0.
Barr-Reeve took their win against Pike Central when the teams last played back in December of 2022 by a conclusive 44-18. The rematch might be a little tougher for Barr-Reeve since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
