The Anderson Indians will take on the Yorktown Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The timing isn't great for Anderson: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Yorktown has snatched up 14 consecutive wins on the road dating back to last season.
Anderson is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Muncie Central on Thursday as they made off with a 25-3 win. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Indians as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Chelsea Shaker made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit. Those 11 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season.
In other batting news, Anderson got a massive performance out of Jaycen Swink, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, five runs, and six RBI. That home run was Swink's first of the season. Emma Wilson was another key player, getting on base in all six of her plate appearances with five runs, two triples, and one RBI.
Anderson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Yorktown earned a 9-4 win over Westfield on Thursday. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Shamrocks recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Like Anderson, Yorktown also got a great game from a two-way player: Olivia Jones. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up four earned runs off seven hits. Jones has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run.
In other batting news, Anna Rinker was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Abbey Booher, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
Anderson's win bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Yorktown, their victory bumped their record up to 10-2.
Monday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Anderson has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .463. However, it's not like Yorktown struggles in that department as they've averaged .494. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Anderson suffered a grim 12-2 defeat to Yorktown in their previous meeting back in May of 2022. Will the Indians have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
