The Middlesex Chargers typically have all the answers at home, but on Friday the Carver College and Career Academy Wolverines proved too difficult a challenge. They managed a 64-60 win over the Chargers. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Carver College and Career Academy has scored all season.
Camron Paul continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 27 points along with four steals. He hasn't dropped below 15points for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyson Marsh, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 18 rebounds.
Despite the loss, Middlesex still got an impressive performance from Kellen Layne, who scored 23 points. Malik Dandy was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and 14 rebounds.
The victory was the fourth in a row for Carver College and Career Academy, bringing their record for this year to 11-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 88.0 points per game. As for Middlesex, their loss ended a 19-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Carver College and Career Academy will take on Charles City at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Charles City is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road. As for Middlesex, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against King & Queen Central at 7:00 p.m. King & Queen Central will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 435th, while Middlesex is ranked 198th).
