Triplains/Brewster was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from eighth to fifth in Western Kansas Liberty (8 Man). Earlier in the week, the Titans triumphed over Greeley County 40-26.
Weskan extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Wheatland-Grinnell, 38-14. The victory was the seventh in a row for the Coyotes.
Weskan's dynamic duo of Samuel McKinney and Hayden Walker proved tough for the Thunderhawks to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. McKinney threw for 179 yards and four touchdowns and Walker had 171 yards receiving. Brandan Escamilla helped Weskan's passing attack out by catching two balls for eight yards.
Seth Smith made the biggest impact on defense this week as Triplains/Brewster defeated the Jackrabbits. The 5-foot-8 junior forced one fumble and recorded one fumble.
Chase Newell was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 22 carries, he ran for 272 yards as Palco bested Wheatland-Grinnell. Teammate Kolt Newell added to the ground attack by rushing for 19 yards.
The Coyotes' McKinney and Walker have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Western Kansas Liberty (8 Man) in both passing and receiving yards. McKinney has thrown for 1140 yards this season, while Walker has 30 catches for 733 yards. Andrew Luna from Golden Plains leads the league in rushing with 1027 yards.
Northern Valley's Hunter Chandler is a mere 84 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season. In 130 carries Chandler has accumulated 916 yard this year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Tyler Flavin's team takes on the Bulldogs. The Thunderhawks are in third place, while Golden Plains is in eighth place.
The Huskies led the league in scoring this week after putting up 64 points on Stockton. Chandler threw for three yards and ran for 180 yards in the win.
