Hamilton Southeastern is 10-0 against Carroll since January of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Hamilton Southeastern Royals will look to defend their home court against the Carroll Chargers at 2:30 p.m. Hamilton Southeastern is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
On Saturday, Hamilton Southeastern needed a bit of extra time to put away Plainfield. They skirted past the Quakers 57-55. Given the Royals' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked first, while the Quakers are ranked 27th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
The match pitted two dominant guards against one another in Maya Makalusky and Hannah Menser. Makalusky had a solid game and dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten boards. Meanwhile, Menser was balling out in the loss, going 8 of 16 on her way to 24 points and five assists.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Carroll). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger 80-53. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Chargers have posted since January 23, 2024.
Carroll's win came from a few key players Hamilton Southeastern will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jersey Paul, who went 7 of 12 on her way to 22 points and four steals. Her evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cala Haffner, who went 7 of 11 on her way to 17 points in addition to six boards and five assists.
Hamilton Southeastern's win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-0. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.6 points per game. As for Carroll, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-8.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Hamilton Southeastern has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 28.2 boards per game. However, it's not like Carroll struggles in that department as they've been averaging 23.4 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Hamilton Southeastern strolled past Carroll in their previous meeting back in January of 2024 by a score of 82-63. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Paul, who went 8 of 18 on her way to 26 points. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Hamilton Southeastern still be able to contain Paul? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
