The Silver Valley Trojans will head out on the road to face off against the Walnut Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Silver Valley will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.
Silver Valley stacked a seventh blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They claimed a resounding 53-6 victory over Nuview Bridge at home. Silver Valley pushed the score to 38-6 by the end of the third, a deficit Nuview Bridge had no chance of recovering from.
Silver Valley's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bryan Mitchell, who threw for 171 yards and four touchdowns on only 16 passes. Damien Grundy also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Walnut owes their defense a big pat on the back after their performance on Friday. They really took it to Nogales for the full four quarters, racking up a 28-0 victory at home. The win was just what Walnut needed coming off of a 35-12 defeat in their prior contest.
Walnut can attribute much of their success to Demetrius Stampley, who rushed for 125 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 carries.
Silver Valley's win was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-1. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-9 Desert and 1-7 San Jacinto Valley Academy (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 30.6% over those games). As for Walnut, their win bumped their record up to 4-6.
