St. Charles had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.6 points), and they went ahead and made it nine on Friday. They secured a 57-53 W over McDonough. That's another feather in the cap for St. Charles, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
St. Charles' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Shamir Taylor led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds. Taylor hasn't dropped below 18 points for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Xavier Buchanan, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds.
St. Charles pushed their record up to 14-3 with that victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.9 points per game. As for McDonough, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-3.
St. Charles will head out on the road to face off against the Hurricanes at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Huntingtown will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Maryland Rankings (they are ranked 198th, while the are ranked 40th). As for McDonough, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against the Eagles at 7:00 p.m.
