The Westlake Wolverines were the 62-54 winner over the Chopticon Braves when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Westlake took a 58-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of Chopticon. That's two games in a row now that Westlake has lost by exactly four points.
Despite the loss, Westlake still got an impressive performance from Darian Canty, who scored 16 points along with five steals. Another player making a difference was Melvin Newman, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.
Westlake struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Chopticon racked up 12 assists.
Chopticon's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brian McMahon, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Braylon Harrison, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Westlake and nudges their season record down to 5-9. As for Chopticon, they pushed their record up to 8-6 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westlake will take on Northern at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Chopticon, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against North Point at 6:30 p.m.
