Softball Recap: Gilmour Academy Has No Trouble Against North

Gilmour Academy came out on top against North on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run second inning. The Lancers were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over the Rangers. The result was nothing new for the Lancers, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Camden Dreiling spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on six hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ava Gundling, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Hailey Gray, who went 3-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

Gilmour Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North only posted a batting average of .222.

The win made it two in a row for Gilmour Academy and bumps their season record up to 8-2. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for North, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gilmour Academy will challenge Boardman at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for North, they will take on Kenston at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
