Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Brendy Eber and Darren Sacher Lead Yavneh Academy to Victory

Yavneh Academy had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They strolled past the Chisholm Trail Academy Blazers with points to spare, taking the game 57-42. This was a revenge game for the Bulldogs: when they faced off against the Blazers back in January, they had to take a 63-47 defeat.

Yavneh Academy was led to victory by Darren Sacher and Brendy Eber. Sacher dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 boards, while Eber went 6 of 14 en route to 12 points and seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jake Yalovsky, who posted eight points.

Yavneh Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Chisholm Trail Academy only pulled down six offensive rebounds.

Despite the loss, Chisholm Trail Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Max Castro went 7 for 16 on his way to 26 points along with five rebounds and three steals. The matchup was Castro's third in a row with at least ten points. Mateo Marquez was another key player, putting up six points and seven boards.

Yavneh Academy's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-8. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.6 points per game. As for Chisholm Trail Academy, with the defeat, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 18-9.
