Even though the El Dorado Golden Hawks scored an imposing 60 points on Thursday, the Troy Warriors still came out on top. Troy managed a 64-60 win over El Dorado. Given Troy's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 143rd, while El Dorado is ranked 319th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Troy was led to victory by Vander Ploog and Josh King. Ploog dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 rebounds, while King scored 31 points along with four steals. The match was Ploog's fifth in a row with at least ten points.
When it comes to explaining why El Dorado lost, one person who can't be blamed is Andrew Salvador. Despite the final result, he scored 15 points along with three blocks. The game was Salvador's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Caleb Hendrix was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
The win makes it two in a row for Troy and bumps their season record up to 9-2. As for El Dorado, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Troy will take on Fountain Valley at TBD on Saturday. Fountain Valley is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. As for El Dorado, they will be playing at home against Calabasas at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
