The University Prep Jaguars will square off against the Apple Valley Sun Devils at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. University Prep is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.7 runs per game this season.
University Prep took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Victor Valley as they made off with a 13-5 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Jaguars considering their one-run performance the matchup before.
Breezy (Briseis) Vargas was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Paityn Zimmerman was incredible, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Jocelyn Lopez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.
University Prep kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Apple Valley unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-game winning streak on Friday. They came up short against Oak Hills, falling 15-5. Surprisingly, this marked the sixth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.
Allyssa Purser and Hailey Macias did some serious damage despite the final result: Purser went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs, while Macias went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was Macias' first of the season.
University Prep has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Apple Valley, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 9-1 and their overall record down to 16-10-1.
Wednesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. University Prep has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .474. However, it's not like Apple Valley struggles in that department as they've averaged .486. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
