De La Salle (Concord, Calif.) defeat
Foothill (Pleasanton, Calif.) 34-17 after a strong game from
Tiapepe Vitale, who rushed for four touchdowns. The scores gave the senior 14 touchdowns for the year.
The Spartans were up 20-3 at the half after taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Michael Hutchings in the first quarter.
Both teams scored seven points in the third quarter, so the margin remained at 17 entering the fourth.
With the win De La Salle extended its winning streak to six games. DLS defeated the Cowboys 57-0 last week.
The Falcons'
Griffith Gates played well. The senior ran for one touchdown.
The Concord school came into the game allowing 9.4 points per game.
Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 39-3 win for the Spartans.
De La Salle (6-0) will play a non-conference game against Amador Valley next week, while Foothill (3-3) will take on Granada in a East Bay game.
