The Dr. Maya Angelou Community Phoenix were the 76-25 winner over the Dymally Challengers when they last played one another back in December of 2016, but their luck changed this time around. Dr. Maya Angelou Community was dealt a 58-15 loss at the hands of Dymally on Tuesday. Dr. Maya Angelou Community has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Dymally's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gerald Coland, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 16 rebounds. Coland set a new season high mark in blocks with four. Another player making a difference was Nyzear Hamby, who scored eight points along with 17 rebounds and three blocks.
Dr. Maya Angelou Community's defeat dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Dymally, their victory bumped their record up to 4-10.
Dr. Maya Angelou Community will face off against Maywood CES at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday. Maywood CES is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Dymally, they will square off against Aspire Ollin at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday.
