Basketball Recap: Ava Wagner Key Part of a Team Effort in Musketeers Win

Red Bud won the last time they faced Gibault Catholic and things went their way on Thursday too. The Red Bud Musketeers secured a 38-34 W over the Gibault Catholic Hawks. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Musketeers.

Red Bud's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ava Wagner, who posted 11 points. That's the most points Wagner has posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Jeda Kathryn Friess, who put up eight points in addition to six boards and three steals.

Gibault Catholic's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Claire Higgerson, who went 5 of 11 on her way to 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamille Grohmann, who had eight points.

Red Bud has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. As for Gibault Catholic, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-4.

Red Bud wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 35-29 defeat against Roxana on the 27th. As for Gibault Catholic, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 42-33 loss against Chicago Hope Academy on the 27th.
