Hayward has gone a perfect 10-0 against Ashland recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Hurricanes will be playing at home against the Oredockers at 4:00 p.m. Ashland took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Hayward, who comes in off a win.
Hayward took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Barron as they made off with a 27-2 victory. The Hurricanes might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by eight runs or more this season.
Kaydee Campbell and Avery Pearson-Seifert made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Campbell pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Meanwhile, Pearson-Seifert tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Campbell has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. At bat, Campbell went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Pearson-Seifert got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most doubles Campbell has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Colby Sprenger was a standout: she fired off two home runs, five runs, and two stolen bases while going 5-for-5. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayleigh Kufahl, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs.
Hayward always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .744. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Ashland's offense. They came up short against Spooner on Thursday, falling 22-0. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Oredockers haven't been shut out since back in April.
Hayward is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.9 runs on average over those games. As for Ashland, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.
Hayward got the 'W' when the teams last played back in May of 2025 against Ashland by a conclusive 16-1 score. Will the Hurricanes repeat their success, or do the Oredockers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
