Basketball Recap: St. John Extends Home Winning Streak to Three

St. John had won two straight home games and Ashton Parisien did his part to make it three on Monday. The St. John Woodchucks narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Benson County [Leeds/Maddock] Wildcats 56-53 thanks in part to Parisien, who went 14 of 26 en route to 34 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of St. John's points.

Madden Parisien was another key player, putting up eight points. He is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played.

St. John has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 5-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.8 points per game. As for Benson County [Leeds/Maddock], this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-7.

St. John will square off against Midway/Minto at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Midway/Minto knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten contests -- so hopefully St. John likes a good challenge. Benson County [Leeds/Maddock] has already played their next game (against Drake/Anamoose), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
