The Liberty North Eagles will challenge the Staley Falcons at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Liberty North comes in on four and Staley on three.
Liberty North is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Lee's Summit West with a sharp 14-8 win on Monday. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by six runs or more this season.
Brett Swanson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Swanson was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That stolen base was his first of the season.
In other pitching news, Chase Grady looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.
Back at the plate, Landon Wells was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of William Bologna, who earned one RBI and two runs.
Meanwhile, Staley had just enough and edged out Blue Springs 3-1 on Monday.
Staley also got a great performance from Jake Thomas as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over 6.2 innings pitched.
At the plate, Staley's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Evan Abbott, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Liberty North's win was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-2. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games. As for Staley, their win bumped their record up to 15-1.
Liberty North couldn't quite finish off Staley in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 and fell 2-0. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
